Special Immigrant Juvenile Cases

Providence, Rhode Island, United States

We have hundreds of cases of immigrant juveniles that have been subject to abuse and/or neglect by one or both of their parents and need government protection, many of them very young children.

Immigrant juveniles that have undergone these hardships and are either under the age of 21 and residing in Massachusetts or under the age of 18 and residing in Rhode Island* may be eligible for SIJ status and may qualify to become a legal permanent resident in the United States.

*[Note: these are the only two states we are barred in. Also, please be advised we are not a non-profit entity, and your donation cannot be considered for tax purposes. A donation does not create an attorney-client relationship, and all information regarding the juveniles will remain confidential.]

Juveniles eligible for this type of relief are not at fault for the harsh circumstances they have had to endure. Because of this, we like to offer them our legal services at no cost to them [and also to refugees and asylum seekers, and candidates for U-visas and T-visas].

However, as the number of people seeking immigration services rises, so does our firm’s rate of probono cases. We exceeded our limit of probono cases back in 2016, and have been trying to manage the rising amount of clients that cannot afford legal services ever since. We have tried to offer help at a “low-bono” rate, but unfortunately the vast majority of people in need of immigration services simply do not have the means to pay for it.

We, as a firm, want to help and have been doing all we can to do so since our launch in 2012. It is with great regret that we ackowledge we do not have the resources to continue to provide these services for free.

We are asking for donations to use solely for SIJ, U-visa, T-visa, and asylum cases. These donations will be used to cover our legal services [at a lower rate of $4,500 as opposed to the $7,500 normally charged] to use for payroll expenses, shipping costs, interpreter fees, and office supply consumption.

For SIJ cases, this means giving a juvenile a fresh start: refuge after abuse, neglect, or abandonment. It means the opportunity to actually be cared for. It means a chance for progress.

Join us in our effort to give them their fresh start.
